100m2 Heptane pool fire
« on: October 25, 2022, 10:49:19 am »

Dear Sirs,
We want to model the complete fire of a 100m2 Heptane pool fire, in which the fire starts in the center of the pool fire.
In order to modelate thuis fireb we follow the next steps:

1) We have defined a new species N-Heptane C7H16.

2)We have defined the chemical reaction of heptane characterized by:
Fuel Type: Predefined
Fuel Spices: N-HEPTANE

3) We have defined a new material as N-HEPTANE LIQUID, with your thermal and pyrolysis properties.

4) We have defined a heptane liquid surface of 100m2.

5) In order to initiate the fire we have placed in the center of the pool a  heater 1000ÂșC (2 seconds)

The visual results seem realistic, at the same time the HRR is similar (order of magnitude) to the calculated via empirical formulas.
In your opinion, based on your knowledge and experience, this would be a acceptable solution to modelate this kind of fire?

Thank you very much and best regards.
