Is there an easy way to plot HRR or other measures in excel?

(1/1)

dulfen:
Hey.

I want to plot the measured HRR and temperature with a line in excel. I have opened the filename_hrr.csv with excel, but all the numbers are copied in the same cell. Is there an easy way to extract only time and hrr from that cell, or do I have to manually copy what I want from each cell for different times?

Dave McGill:
That shouldn't be happening. Excel has recognized .cvs files and automatically parsed them out for at least the last 10 years. When you look at the folder in Windows Explorer, you should see the Excel symbol beside all of the .cvs files.

If you don't, then change the file association.

right-click -> Properties -> General -> Opens with -> Change -> select Excel

After that, just double click the file to open it in Excel, with the columns properly parsed.

I had the same problem and found the solution in changing the regional settings in Windows before opening the FDS-generated csv file (I'm based in Germany)
Make sure to set the format under regional settings to "English". Windows has also recognized the problem:
