Smoke Visibility
« on: June 29, 2015, 09:38:58 pm »

Hi, i am running smoke simulation for a building. The acceptance criteria is visibility shall not be less than horizontal distance of 5m at a height of 1.7m from floor level. Is there any way to measure the smoke visibility to check that the criteria is being met? Thanks.

Provide a smoke visibility slice at a height of 1.7m (i.e. on the Z plane) when you are building your model. When you have ran your models, fix you visibility slice file to 5m.

This should show you if visibility criteria is exceeded.

Do you require more detail ?

Hi,
I had attached a image by adjusting the visibility slice file to 5m. Is that what you've meant? =)
This image shows that whatever exceeds the red colour 5m means the visibility is less than the horizontal distance of 5m? I had only modified the max and min scale value. More details to share would be great! Thanks!

The visibility slice file will show anything in red will indicate a visibility greater than 5m. As you have fixed your distance with a maximum visibility of 5m, any other colour than red will illustrate the areas where the visibility descends below 5m.
