Hi,
Could someone tell me, what does this mean with this message :

ERROR: NO DOOR FLOW EVACUATION MESHES IN FDS6 ?

Thank you,

Have you set the evacuation flag on your evacuation meshes?

Hi Charlie,
Do you mean a ''click'' on ''Evacuation Mesh'' and ''Evac Humans''
If yes, YES i have.

Hello Charlie,

I tried my model with old Pyrosim version (PyroSim 2012 with FDS5) and it seems working fine. The old version helped me to correct  little by little the other simple errors rather than  ERROR: NO DOOR FLOW EVACUATION MESHES IN FDS6.
I got a nice Smokeview with doors/exits (that do not appear with the new version ), and simulation of propagation of smoke and human evacuation look fine.
I don't know if the Pyrosim 2014 with FDS6 has any problem for simple simulations like my model.
Could you please check?

Thank you,
Yen

I don't know what the problem is. PyroSim 2014 has a feature that expands holes slightly to ensure you get the correct behavior in some cases where the holes might not otherwise cut into obstructions in the way you would expect. However, if you answer "no" to the prompt this action isn't performed. Expanding and not expanding seem to give the same error.

I expect we'll do some work this year to update PyroSim's FDS+EVAC support to ensure it is compatible with FDS6. The best option may be to use PyroSim 2012 until we figure out what is going on.

Some things I would suggest trying:

* The meshes coordinates are not very "nice" (e.g. cell dimensions of 0.3036x0.3033x1.2 m). Because of this the vents and obstructions are being moved around by FDS to fit the mesh. This can cause things to overlap and give unexpected results.

* The EVAC meshes aren't aligned with the FDS meshes. I wouldn't think this would matter as long as geometry is either evac-only or fds-only, but not lining them up seems like asking for trouble.

Hi Charlie,

Thank you very much for your helps!
Actually the model I sent you have some problems with Meshes, exits/doors, holes.
With the version 2012, I fixed all errors with XB and IJK of Meshes (e.g. unaligned...), XB of Exits/Doors (e.g. mid point facing solid...)... Now I think I have good enough Meshes for the simulation of my model.
I also removed all holes that I set for the exits/doors, I just keep holes for lifts and stairs and set them for Evac Holes. The FDS5 do not ask me to expand the holes or not. I will come back to try with FDS6 later.

In Smokeview I got: The human evacuations in evac meshes are good.
But I still would like to change somethings:

1. Doors vs EXITS:
In fact, I have 3 exits (to outside of the building for example) and one door (still inside of the building). What I see in smokeview is the door have the same function like the exits, that means outside this door people also ''disappeared''. Could you please help me to have a door where people just ''go through'' to the nearest exit? In evac list, I set a ''to node'' for door to exit 3 but I still do not get what I want.

2. How can I avoid people running through out the I Evac Holes I set for lifts ?
In fact I do not want people use the lifts for evacuation and I do not put doors for these lifts, so my lifts are not different from other rooms (without door). I just know that the evac holes are used to avoid fds putting people in places that one does not want, but I don't know if it has this function. Could you please help me again ?

Thank you again,
Yen

I don't have enough experience using FDS+EVAC to answer your questions. Somebody else here might. Another place to look for help is the FDS-SMV Discussion Group: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/fds-smv That forum tends to have a bit more activity relating to FDS+EVAC.
