Pyrosim- problem with an ERROR in FDS+EVAC
« on: December 12, 2012, 12:38:32 pm »

Hi, I have a problem when I run FDS SIMULATION.
In the window of FDS SIMULATION appears the ERROR:
"WARNING : EXIT  exit problem with XB, mid point facing solid
ERROR: line exit problem with XYZ, inside solid "
How can I solve this error?
thank you

I'm not familiar with that error. My guess is that an exit vent is either sandwiched between two obstructions or the normal direction (IOR) for the vent is pointing the wrong way. Can you share your FDS or PSM file?

I have another theory. The vent may have "snapped" to a different cell boundary (grid line) than the obstruction - embedding the vent within the obstruction. Make sure that the vent plane and the obstruction boundary lie on the same mesh cell boundary, and make sure the vent isn't on a thin wall that has the Thicken option activated.

Thanks a lot!!! You have been valuable!!! In these days I have made some changes but I think I make a mistake in the positioning of vent because when I run fds appears an error with VENT that says attach to solid obstruction but I've already placed on obstructions. Help!!!
However, the file is too big to post it here. There are other ways to let you see?
Thank you very much!!

You may be able to ZIP the PSM file and email it to support@thunderheadeng.com . I think they have a relatively large attachment size limit - about 10 MB.

When debugging files like this, the first thing I do (after creating a copy) is to start deleting large sections of the model. Once you isolate the part causing trouble, the cause often becomes clear. This has the added bonus of reducing file size.

I've made some changes to the file and the layout should be corrected. Unfortunately when I run FDS, appears twice "ERROR: Memory allocation failed for IJKW in the routine INIT". Is a problem of my PC? For example, little RAM?

Hi Marco,

With respect to your original question, change the sign of the value for IOR of your exit.
