Hi,

I am performing some simulations about children evacuation. I have collected walking speeds on horizontal plane (WSp) and on stairs (WSs) from drills. The analysis of data has provided two different normal distributions of WS. I would know if there is a way allowing to implement these two distributions for people of the same occupant group, so that they may move at WSp or WSs according to the component they cross.

Thanks

Pathfinder bases walking speed on all components off of the horizontal plane walking speed. At this time, there is no way to explicitly set the walking speed on stairs. To see how this is calculated in pathfinder you can review the Movement through Open Space and Movement through Stairs sections of the Pathfinder Technical Reference:

I already know the way in which pathfinder calculates the speed on the stair according to the K factor. I was hoping there was a way to explicitly set the WS on stair. However your answer confirms what I suspected.

Thank you.
