Pathfinder / Re: Pathfindel 2018 is not working properly
« on: May 21, 2021, 05:24:04 pm »
My guess is that the model geometry is very far away from the 0,0,0 point in the model.  This can cause precision errors in the simulation and results visualization.
If this is the problem, then you can select everything in the model and use the move tool to move the model close to the origin point.

Pathfinder / Re: Can a wheelchair enter the elevator?
« on: May 21, 2021, 05:18:05 pm »
It should be able to enter if there is enough 'room' in the elevator to fit the amount of space that the wheelchair consumes.  Please see the 'Corresponding Occupant Count' parameter in the Vehicle Shapes dialog. https://support.thunderheadeng.com/docs/pathfinder/2021-2/user-manual/#_vehicle_shapes

Pathfinder / Re: Impact of FDS results on occupant movement

There is a newer feature in Pathfinder to have agent automatically slow down in smoke.

They will not avoid smoke yet, and doors won't close to prevent movement through a smoke filled room.

There is not a specific threshold, this would be up to engineering judgement.

This is covered in the FDS User Guide.

PyroSim / Re: how to measure incident heat flux?

Use the gas phase quantity INTEGRATED INTENSITY.

PyroSim / Re: How to set the direction of the exhaust vent?
« on: May 21, 2021, 03:49:56 pm »
HVAC vents would work well for this. https://support.thunderheadeng.com/docs/pyrosim/2021-2/user-manual/#_hvac_vents

PyroSim / Re: Different Ambient Temperature
« on: May 21, 2021, 03:48:19 pm »
Yes, you can use both the 'ambient' settings in the Simulation Parameters and 'INIT' records for Initialization regions.

PyroSim / Re: SLCF, ID, and FYI
« on: May 21, 2021, 03:43:39 pm »
You are correct, PyroSim does not currently provide an input field for ID of an SLCF record.
I have created a feature request for this to be added for 2D and 3D Slices.

PyroSim / Re: Surface Temperature
« on: May 21, 2021, 03:35:10 pm »
You will need the wall obstruction to have a Layered Surface applied to it.  This surface should include a material that has thermophysical properties set to match the materials that will be conducting heat.  Then you can use solid phase devices to measure surface, back wall and in-depth temperatures.

Gas or liquid?

PyroSim / Re: Overlay=false

Yes, you could add this to the 'Advanced' tab of the obstruction properties dialog.

PyroSim / Re: Soot Yield vs Mass Fractions
« on: May 21, 2021, 03:26:40 pm »
I would like to enquire if the setting of the soot mass fraction as such is equivalent to the setting of soot yield as 0.1 in the byproducts?

No, mass fraction of a supply air flow is not the same as the mass fraction of the fuel that converts to soot as a byproduct of combustion.
