Pathfinder / Re: Multi-floor elevators
« on: February 18, 2016, 01:05:53 pm »
A limitation of Pathfinder's current elevator system is that it can only discharge occupants at one floor. For occupants to ride up and then down, you would need a minimum of two elevators.

Thanks. Issue is I want to model the delay and crowding in the lobby as people wait for the elevators to different floors. I will have to approximate this some other way. There are six elevators, but also 11 different floors people can go to.

Are there any plans to expand the elevator function to models more complex situations such as this?

Pathfinder / Multi-floor elevators
« on: February 18, 2016, 09:15:37 am »

I'm trying to use Pathfinder (2015.2.1012) to model ingress to a building. Occupants enter a lobby and should take elevators to one of 10 floors (e.g. as specified via behaviors and waypoints). But I have not been able to have the occupants use to elevators to travel to a given floor. It appears they will only travel to the floor set as Discharge floor? This is very limiting as I need the same elevator to take people to different floors. Is there a way to work around this, or is there something I haven't set correctly?

PyroSim / How to disable HVAC elements
« on: April 10, 2015, 07:12:16 am »
I have a number of simple HVAC ducts consisting of two vents, two nodes and a duct between them. I want to disable some depending on which scenarios I'm creating FDS files for. However, whenever I try to disable them I get the error message; "The selected object is in use". I'm only able to disable the duct, not the nodes or the vents. I doesn't seem to help to disable all at once, or one item at a time.

I can of course go into the FDS file and comment out the lines I don't want, but this is tedious.

How do I disable a node-duct system without getting the "object in use" error?

Pathfinder / Change occupant speed
« on: March 26, 2015, 01:32:50 pm »

I would like to change the travel speed of occupants at some point during the simulation, so they go from walking to running based on some time or other trigger. Is this currently possible in Pathfinder?

Failing that I have thought of a workaround, but not sure if it's possible; Run one simulation where the occupants are walking up to the desired trigger time, export the occupant locations and import that into a second model where their speed is changed to running and continue the simulation? I have not been able to find the occupant locations in any of the output files though.

Will any of these options work?
Thank you.
