PyroSim / Heat Detector vs Thermocouple
« on: November 26, 2015, 06:30:38 am »
Hi everyone!
I've got a doubt: What is the difference between a heat detector and thermocouple, why their results appear with the same output value (ºC)!! Theoretically it was expected an output value in Joules from heat detector

Hi Mr mfrench,Thanks for answer me!
I was just wondering, but i think that you picked up a wrong model, I had attached two model on my topic,  one that fire is totally extinguished (Ext_IG.psm) and the another model (model_06) that it's is not being extinguished! In the model_06.psm, i've got this kind of plot where the pressure is going always down.

PyroSim / Numerical Instability + extinguishment by Inert Agent
« on: August 15, 2015, 04:41:38 pm »
Hi everyone,
I'm just trying to model an extinguishment of fire by Inert Gas, IG-55! This is a 30 minutes of simulation in a Data Center (model_06.psm). When i extract my HRR plot, it's showing me that the fire tends to be extinguished, but when I increment my time of simulation to 50 seconds it gives me an error: Numerical Instability!
I've made a simple test and I got a HRR plot that I want (Ext_IG.psm)

I had attached my 2 models and my HRR plot, so if you can help me i really appreciate this

PyroSim / PyroSim Manual vs FDS UGuide
« on: May 06, 2015, 08:23:18 am »
I everyone!
There is something missing on the FDS User guide. I was searching for extinguishment of fire, on the PyroSim Manual and i found something like this in the page 40 "This parameter governs the suppression of the fire by water. For more information, see section 10.7 of the FDS User’s Guide." but when I went to see, there is no section 10.7 in FDS User's Guide. If my pdf is missing something let me know!

PyroSim / Re: Burner Example : result not matched
« on: May 06, 2015, 07:47:29 am »
Hi Ankita,I made that exercise once, and I had got  a different result too. So I installed an older version of PyroSim 2012.01.0605 and I got approximately the same result as they show in this .pdf! (Look at the attachments). I think the Thunderhead Eng team, should update those exercises to be applied  to the newer version of PyroSim! I hope I help you!

PyroSim / Re: Lumped Species
« on: May 02, 2015, 02:31:11 pm »
Well Thank you Mr. Thornton, it works!
But the fire isn't extinguished, I'm follow an explanation from one of topics talking about extinguishment but they are using water, so I had to adapt my model  (fire ) to be extinguished by Inert Gas IG55. I attach my model so you can understand my model (P.S. This model in an exercise that I'm doing for academic discipline)

PyroSim / Lumped Species
« on: April 29, 2015, 08:08:58 am »
Hello Everyone!
I'm trying to modelling a inert gas, Argonite to extinguish the fire. I define it as a Lumped Species with composition by volume (Nitrogen- 50% e Argon -50%). I try to inject into my domain, by Nozzles, When I click to run it gave me an error sayin  ERROR: PART line   1.  Particles cannot evaporate to a lumped species.

Is there another way to inject those species into my domain?

I don't know if you have looked to this page ( http://www2.vtt.fi/proj/fdsevac/index.jsp ), it will help you so much

PyroSim / Re: Meshes Alignment
« on: April 21, 2015, 05:57:29 am »
Thanks guys! I'll check It Mr. Klein, Thank you!
A question Mr.Swenson: In this case  if I'm doing a Grid Sensitivity Analysis, you advise me to do in  both meshes?

PyroSim / Meshes Alignment
« on: April 20, 2015, 06:50:36 am »
Hi Everyone!
I get this message "ERROR: MESH   2 is out of alignment with MESH   1" when I run the simulation! But when I setup my mesh the "Mesh Alignment says that the alignment is fine "passed"!  I'm using this version of PyroSim [2014.2.0807] fds version 6.1.0!
I sent my model in attachments, together with 2 images of those messages

PyroSim / Modeling an inert agent, IG 55 to extinguish the fire
« on: April 13, 2015, 07:01:16 am »
Hello Everybody!
I would like to know how to model an inert gas (IG-55) as extinguishing of the fire in Pyrosim! Does anybody had that experience?

Great! I'm not able to do this! But thanks for your advice!
I hope somebody else  help me

Hi!
Mr. McGill have you ever done any simulation, using the (Argonite IG-55) in Pyrosim! Soon i'll need to do this, in a study that i'm doing in a DataCenter, so,  it will be useful if i had some examples to follow.
