PyroSim / FDS runs stopping when internet disconnects
« on: February 05, 2016, 04:13:56 am »
Hi All,

I have been running a couple of overnight runs on my computer in work and for some reason when the internet disconnects the runs stop. Is the reason why this is happening?

PyroSim / Parts of Slice Files missing
« on: October 05, 2015, 02:28:37 am »
All,

I have modelled a large car park simulation and some areas of my slice files are not showing up and if I try to reload them, different areas "disappear". When I was running the model there was no problem with viewing the slice files during the run. Does anybody know what the problem is?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much David. That will be of great help.

I think you are correct with the error in the FDS input.

Is it possible to model induction fans in Pyrosim?

PyroSim / Induction Fans

I have tried to reverse engineer an exsisting fds model with induction fans in it. When I inport it to Pyrosim it comes up with an error saying that "Pyrosim no longer supports this type of fan" "inductionplus inductionminus changed to exhaust"

I was wondering how do you model a induction fan in Pyrosim?

Many thanks if you reply.

PyroSim / Slice the Pyrosim Model

I was wondering if you can take a slice/section of the Pyrosim model in Pyrosim rather than in Smokeview?

PyroSim / Re: Difference beetween using vent or multiple surfaces
« on: August 08, 2014, 07:53:47 am »
The primary difference can come into play when VENTS don't align well to the obstructions.  Sometimes you will get an error about the VENT not on a Solid Surface, which usually can be resolved by moving the VENT closer to the cell edge that the OBST will occupy.  Assigning the SURF to the OBST properties will never result in this kind of error.

Behind the scenes, when you use a VENT, FDS is replacing the OBST SURF properties with whatever properties are assigned to the VENT in each cell that the VENT covers.  When you assign the SURF to the OBST, no such substitution occurs.

Also, it is good to remember that if you have more than one VENT overlapping the same OBST cells, the first VENT listed in the FDS input file (the VENT higher up in the PyroSim Object Tree in the left panel), will be assigned to the cells.  All subsequent VENTS and SURFS are rejected.

Will that speed up the process of simulation if you use SURF rather than a VENT?

PyroSim / Sprinklers
« on: June 23, 2014, 05:23:19 am »
I was just wondering if it was better to model sprinklers or just to take a reduced fire load for a scenario?

Will introducing sprinklers into the model increase the number of calculation which in turn increases the length of time to simulate the model?

Many thanks
