PyroSim / Could you please help me?
« on: August 14, 2014, 05:31:40 am »
Hello,
Could you please help me to know more about the ''visibility of CO, CO2, O2'' (in meter) in Plot 3D ?
IF in Pyrosim Output, in Plot 3D Data, I click on Visibilty of CO, CO2, O2 then in Smokeview, I got a visualisation of these visibilities.
For example, visibility of CO is in range of 3-29 meters, visibility of CO2 is in range of 0-30 m, and visibility of O2 is in rage of 1,24-1,32 (0,001 m).
However, I don't know above or below what meter of visibility, the presence or absence/lack of these gas becomes dangerous ?

Thank you very much in advance !
Best regards,
Yen

Hi Charlie,

Thank you very much for your helps!
Actually the model I sent you have some problems with Meshes, exits/doors, holes.
With the version 2012, I fixed all errors with XB and IJK of Meshes (e.g. unaligned...), XB of Exits/Doors (e.g. mid point facing solid...)... Now I think I have good enough Meshes for the simulation of my model.
I also removed all holes that I set for the exits/doors, I just keep holes for lifts and stairs and set them for Evac Holes. The FDS5 do not ask me to expand the holes or not. I will come back to try with FDS6 later.

In Smokeview I got: The human evacuations in evac meshes are good.
But I still would like to change somethings:

1. Doors vs EXITS:
In fact, I have 3 exits (to outside of the building for example) and one door (still inside of the building). What I see in smokeview is the door have the same function like the exits, that means outside this door people also ''disappeared''. Could you please help me to have a door where people just ''go through'' to the nearest exit? In evac list, I set a ''to node'' for door to exit 3 but I still do not get what I want.

2. How can I avoid people running through out the I Evac Holes I set for lifts ?
In fact I do not want people use the lifts for evacuation and I do not put doors for these lifts, so my lifts are not different from other rooms (without door). I just know that the evac holes are used to avoid fds putting people in places that one does not want, but I don't know if it has this function. Could you please help me again ?

Thank you again,
Yen

Hello Charlie,

I tried my model with old Pyrosim version (PyroSim 2012 with FDS5) and it seems working fine. The old version helped me to correct  little by little the other simple errors rather than  ERROR: NO DOOR FLOW EVACUATION MESHES IN FDS6.
I got a nice Smokeview with doors/exits (that do not appear with the new version ), and simulation of propagation of smoke and human evacuation look fine.
I don't know if the Pyrosim 2014 with FDS6 has any problem for simple simulations like my model.
Could you please check?

Thank you,
Yen

Hi Charlie,
Do you mean a ''click'' on ''Evacuation Mesh'' and ''Evac Humans''
If yes, YES i have.

PyroSim / Re: DOORs/EXITs DO NOT APPEAR IN THE SMOKEVIEW
« on: April 03, 2014, 01:11:38 pm »
Hi Charlie,

I found this msg in FDS-SMV guide (1.2 Features of Limited Functionality):
''Note, that Smokeview does not yet fully support the evacuation calculation, e.g., the positions of doors, stairs and
other evacuation objects are not shown by Smokeview''.

I still have problem with ERR Specify Vent Orientation...
Then I add the evac grids for each door/exit and I got another err msg:

ERROR: NO DOOR FLOW EVACUATION MESHES IN FDS6
I don't know why and think that it is because my Meshes are not good enough. I have tried to change the IJK of Mainevacgrid meshes but the above msg still appears.
I send you my psm. file to support@thunderheadeng.com so that you can see.
Thank you very much!

Thank you,

Yes I specified the Normal Direction for my VENTS (with Outflow_Exhaust surface). In fact I have only 5 VENTS (1 for Burner, 1 for Door and 3 for Exit) However it still appear this message:
ERROR: Specify orientation of VENT   6, MESH NUMBER  2
I checked very carefully but still do not find any Vent left.
Could you please help me again?
Best regards
Yen

Yes, I am still reading the document that you suggest.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I have created meshes for all exits/doors
Actually, I have created the exits/doors with the same min and max X (or Y) (Geography) and then click on ''Thicken'' , and I do not see the exits/doors in the Smokeview.
I when I changed the max X/Y to make the exits/doors have a thick of 0,05m then run FDS, I still do not see the exits/doors. I don't really know why. I would like to send you my file, do you have any inbox available for such a large file like this?
Best regards,
Yen

PyroSim / DOORs/EXITs DO NOT APPEAR IN THE SMOKEVIEW
« on: April 02, 2014, 02:23:59 am »
Hello again,

I have built the exits/doors (by adding obtructions) and the vents corresponding to each exit/door, but when I run fds, the exits/doors do not appear in the Smokeview. I try again and again but do not file the solution.
Could you please help me ?

Thank you very much!
Yen

Hello,
Could you please please help me? I am a new commer in this programe.
I have already created the exits and the evac gird for each exit. However, when I run the FDS, it appears the message:
ERROR: EVAC/ Emesh 1 MainEvacGrid1 needs at least one DOOR/EXIT
Could you tell me what should I check ?
I can not send you my file because it is too large.
Thank you very much in advance !
Yen
