Pathfinder / Re: Importing FBX models
« on: September 06, 2020, 01:21:01 am »

My guess is that it has something to do with the scale of the model and the scale selected on import.  I used the unit 'hm' and the T-Rex came in at a reasonable size.

Pathfinder / Re: Coupling Pyrosim Results With Pathfinder

Currently agents can sense the FDS output data to calculate FED value and to slow their movement speed based on soot visibility. They do not yet change path or change behavior based on FDS data values.  This is an area of active development for us and we welcome any suggestions on how to best simulate the agents response to fire phenomena.  There is a good talk coming up in our FEMTC 2020 conference that is relevant to this topic.

Have you taken a look through this section of the manual?

If you need further assistance, please email your Pathfinder file to and we will help you there.

Pathfinder / Re: Pathfinder files not opening

This looks like a memory error.  I would recommend that you send the Pathfinder file that you are trying to open to so we can dig in a bit deeper and see if this is a bug or an issue with memory on your computer.

Pathfinder / Re: Occupants do not slowed down by the smoke

Please see these sections in the PyroSim and Pathfinder manuals.

To have PyroSim output the data Pathfinder needs:

To have Pathfinder use that data during the simulation.

Pathfinder / Re: Pathfinder Model Problem = crazy agent

Hello, what happens if you increase the Door Choice option for 'Current Room Queue Time' to a weight of 10?  For me it evenly distributes the agents over all 10 doors, because the cost of waiting in a queue at a door is so high.

"FDS sets a kill radius that is 0.5 % of the mass of the MINIMUM_DIAMETER particle. In your case that is about 3.4 um. This is why you are seeing 6 um in Smokeview.

Within the evaporation routine FDS first tries to evaporate the drop using the current time step. It then does some checks to see if the equilibrium condition is overshot or if the local gas temperature changes too much. If this is the case it tries again at half the timestep. This process is repeated until the droplet passes the checks or the timestep drops too much. If the timestep drops too much a warning is written. In your case the warning is saying that even at a very small sub timestep the gas temperature is still seeing large changes."

We are in the process of finishing keyboard shortcuts for Pathfinder, you will be able to map these actions to shortcut keys.
This feature should be available in the next release later this year.

Please see the Technical Reference Manual available on this page.

Pathfinder / Re: Problem with zooming, Please help!?
« on: October 15, 2019, 03:53:38 pm »
My quick guess without seeing the model file is that you have some things in the model very far away from the origin point and it is zooming out very far to show everything in the same view.  If you send the Pathfinder file in to support by email we can look more carefully and give you more than a guess at the issue.

Please send your Pathfinder file to so we can troubleshoot further.

Pathfinder / Re: Clipping obstruction in Pyrosim results
« on: October 01, 2019, 08:24:05 am »
Yes, the best way to do this is to create a new view and add a section box to it.  Each view can have it's own section box that clips away everything outside the box.  See the Results User Guide for more information about the section box feature.  This is available in the Help menu.

Not at this time, but this is a high priority feature request.  I will bump it up for review and planning again.

Pathfinder / Re: Could not load occupant animation file
« on: September 30, 2019, 06:31:19 pm »
I have not had this error reported to support before.
Can you please zip up the pathfinder file and all of the output files for your simulation and send the zip file to for further troubleshooting?
