Post by: changzhoushusheng on June 25, 2010, 03:15:56 am
 hello everybody.i have some questions.
will the combustible mass in the model diminish or burn out  in the combustion process? will hhr change as the combustible mass changes?
thank you very much

You might want to read the FDS technical reference for the really authoritative answers, and I''m no expert in FDS''s internals, but...

I''m not sure how to talk about "the model" as a whole.  If you talk about individual obstructions, the surfaces can work in different ways.  If you set up a burner to have a constant HRR of 500 kW, it can generate that for 1000 years if you''d like.  If you set up a layered surface to BURN_AWAY, then yes, I believe the fuel diminishes and eventually vanishes just like you''d imagine.

Could you post an input file where you''re trying to use BURN_AWAY?  You could just paste in the SURF and MATL records if you''d like.
